Earlier this month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that India is ready to launch its 5G services soon https://pantheonuk.org/rajkotupdates-newspm-modi-india-plans-to-launch-5g-services-soon/. This means that a number of services that we use every day will soon be available on smartphones, including Netflix, Amazon Prime, and other streaming services. The Prime Minister also said that the country is looking to provide Internet access through fibre optic cables, which will be the first step towards bringing Internet access to the remote regions of the country.

Reliance Jio

Several telecom operators have announced plans for rolling out 5G services in India. The first operator, Bharti Airtel, launched 5G services in eight major cities, while Reliance Jio is expected to launch its services in four metros this month.

Airtel has been awarded 5G spectrum by the DoT and is planning to roll out the service across the country by March 2024. The company has also announced plans to offer 5G on non-standalone networks.

Jio, meanwhile, has set a target of providing its 5G services to all towns and cities by December 2023. The company has announced plans to spend about $25 billion in 5G services.

The company is also aiming to make the 5G service affordable for the common man. It will offer unlimited data with a speed of one gigabyte per second (Gbps).

The company’s 5G services are expected to be able to provide a high data rate, low latency and seamless coverage. It is also expected to enable billions of connected devices to share data in real-time. The service is expected to change the way we do things, including healthcare, education and disaster monitoring.

Bharti Airtel

Several major telecom operators in India have announced their plans to roll out 5G services in India. The first 5G spectrum auction was held last month and bids totalling more than Rs 1.5 lakh crore were received. During the auction, Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd was the top bidder and spent more than double that of second-placed Bharti Airtel.

In the auction, Bharti Airtel secured spectrum in the 1.8 GHz band and 900 MHz band. These two bands will enable 5G services, which are expected to offer speeds of up to 10 times faster than 4G. In addition, the technology is expected to increase spectrum efficiency by three times.

Airtel plans to roll out 5G services in select cities before Diwali. The company will also demonstrate the use of 5G in education, with virtual reality and augmented reality.

Reliance Jio is also planning to roll out 5G services in select cities before Diwali. The company will use equipment from Nokia, Samsung and Ericsson, a spokesman said. However, the company has not revealed its 5G pricing plan yet.

C-DOT

During his Independence Day speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that 5G services would soon be launched in India. He also urged telecom companies to work with the MSME sector to reduce the cost of hardware manufacturing. However, 5G services will not be available to the public until next year.

In addition to the Prime Minister’s announcement, the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT), a state-run telecom research and development firm, unveiled its indigenous 5G core. The core is expected to be rolled out in the coming weeks. In addition, the company has also staged live demonstrations of telecom software applications and wireless communication.

At the India Mobile Congress, Prime Minister Modi also announced that 5G services will be available in 13 cities in India within two years. These cities are: Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Pune.

BSNL, the state-owned telecom service provider, will also be providing 5G services by next year. The company recently secured 19,800 megahertz of spectrum in a recent auction. It has also received Rs 1.64 trillion package from the government.

Telecom Min Ashwini Vaishnaw

During his Independence Day address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that 5G services would soon be launched in India. This was followed by an announcement that the government plans to cover 80-90% of the country in the next two years, according to Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

India’s biggest-ever spectrum auction took place last month. After forty rounds of bidding, bids worth more than Rs 1.5 lakh crore came in. After the auction, operators received spectrum assignment letters. The Department of Telecom has received Rs17,876 crore from service providers.

The government has also set up test beds with 60 universities to help develop 5G technology. The Department of Telecommunications has also tied up with local industry to test the technology. This will help create innovative 5G use cases.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged telecom operators to make their networks affordable to consumers. He also encouraged them to work with the MSME sector to develop a robust manufacturing network for the telecom sector.
