Virat Kohli was born in Uttam Nagar, Delhi on November 5th, 1988. His mother Saroj Kohli is a housewife, while his father, Prem Kohli practised criminal law. Bhavna and Vikash are Virat’s older sister and brother. He attended Saviour Convent and Vishal Bharti Public School while growing up in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar neighbourhood. After being confined to a bed for a month, Kohli’s father passed away on December 18, 2006, from a heart attack. He began dating Bollywood star Anushka Sharma in 2013. The duo quickly became known as Virushka. On December 11, 2017, Virat and Anuskha exchanged vows in a private ceremony in Florence, Italy. The couple was blessed with Vamika, their baby girl. - His father enlisted him at the West Delhi Cricket Academy after noticing his passion for cricket. He played games at the Sumit Dogra Academy and trained there under Rajkumar Sharma. He was a member of the Delhi U-15 team in 2002, and during the Polly Umrigar Trophy competition that year, he amassed the most runs. He was appointed team captain for the Polly Umrigar Trophy campaign in 2003–04. He was chosen to compete for Delhi in the 2003–2004 Vijay Merchant Trophy as a U-17. In four games, he amassed 470 runs with an average of 117.50, including two centuries. He continued to put on outstanding performances the following year, helping Delhi win the Vijay Merchant Trophy in 2004-2005.
- His dependable efforts won him a spot in the India U19 team for the 2006 England tour. He contributed 105 runs to the India Under-19 team’s victory in the 3-match ODI series. Virat Kohli quit as Team India’s Test skipper after India lost the Test series to South Africa. He made his decision public on social media on January 15. After the 2021 T20 World Cup, Kohli has earlier declared that he would step down as India’s T20I captain. Rohit Sharma took over as India’s white-ball captain in December 2021.
